Registered Nurses are some of if not the most in demand jobs in America. There’s a huge shortage of Registered Nurses within the United States and once you get your certification as a Registered Nurse most likely you’ll have several employment offers waiting for you. Naturally the job outlook for Registered Nurses will vary from location to location, however overall the employment outlook for Registered Nurses is stated to be excellent. There is a large employment field for Registered Nurses. The Department of Labor states there will be a large increase in employment in this field. Growth will be driven by new technologies in healthcare, an aging population and a much increased emphasis on preventive health care.
Registered Nurses Job Outlook


The field of Registered Nursing is expected to expand by over 500,000 jobs in the next ten years. Not only will be more nurses are required due to expansion, but also do the number of nurses nearing their retirement years. Where this employment growth occur for Nurses? Hospitals will continue to experience demand for nurses, however the demand for Registered Nurses will grow the slowest there because of advances in technology, along with patients being discharged earlier and more health care procedures being performed on an outpatient basis.

Huge growth in nursing jobs is expected to take place at outpatient facilities who often perform same day surgeries. Employment in health care facilities for the aging is expected to grow due to the number of baby boomers who will require care in the next few years.

Home Health Care Nurses are another part of the nursing field expected to grow dramatically. More and more U.S. citizens expect their health care needs to be taken care of in the home.

Nursing and the Health Care industry in general are poised for rapid growth over the next few years. Driving this growth is an already shortage of Registered Nurses. Unlike many other job opportunities nursing is a field that is in demand. Many employers looking to attract Registered Nurses offer sign on bonuses and a number of typically unheard of benefits just to attract Registered Nurses.
