Nursing schools are just like any school when it comes to choosing one. In this the second part of this article on schools we'll give you the information you need to make a good choice in selecting a nursing program to attend. We'll give you some tips on what to look for in a program and what to avoid. The first important point is once you begin your research it can become overwhelming the information you have to absorb and the many choices you have to make when choosing a school of nursing. Take each step slowly and don't let all of the information about each school overwhelm you. Start by narrowing your choices down to a short list and then follow the steps listed below to narrow your choice down further.

What To Look For In Nursing Schools


Visit the campus of each school to get a feel for the environment of the school itself.

Talk with students enrolled in the nursing program or someone who recently graduated from the school. Learn what their thoughts are about the program and ask specifically if they would do it all over again. You might be surprised at their answers.

Speak with the Professors teaching the program and learn their qualifications. Judge for yourself how passionate they are about nursing.

Ask if the college or university will allow you to monitor a class or two.

Ask the school their percentage of job placement for nursing students?

Ask if the school offers financial aid or scholarships of any sort?

Find out the number of students they allow in each class. Keep in mind the smaller the class size the more individual attention you'll receive.

Take into account quality of life factors such as how far is the school from home.
